Love the Barrel House Mamas. Story here:

The Barrel House Mamas will present a concert Feb. 20 to raise money for the Craig County Schools’ music department.

The concert in the Craig County High School Auditorium will feature the four women from Asheville, N.C., bringing the “sweet and sultry sounds of the Southern Appalachian Mountains,” Craig County Music Instructor Philip Gilbert said.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with the concert at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at IGA in New Castle and at the Craig County High School office for $10 in advance, $7 for students. Tickets will be $12 on the day of show. For more information, call 540-864-5185.

Gilbert said he hopes the concert will raise money to jump start the traditional music curriculum he is working on in the schools.

Earlier, a concert by The Farewell Drifters from Nashville, Tenn., produced enough money to purchase two mandolins for the schools, a guitar and donations of two violins and a viola, Gilbert said.
