Here’s the note. The last time the property was in use was as the offices of the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department under Sheriff Bobby Medford. Not sure it’s been used since.

Hi there, Jason.

You know the old Biltmore College — that regal-looking building up on the hill there across from Huddle House, at the Vanderbilt Medical Park?  It’s been for sale forever, but when I went by there today a big “SOLD” was plastered over the for-sale sign.  Can you find out anything about who bought it and what they plan to do?  I desperately hope they’ll restore the building because it’s gorgeous, and the thought of losing such a great old building just makes me sick.

I figured this kind of thing would intrigue you, so I hope you can find out something!  Thanks.

According to property records, the property was purchased by real estate developer Richard Grant. The site is already under the "In Progress" portfolio section of the Beverly-Grant Web site:

The seller has signed a Consent to Construction and Improvements in which they've agreed to modify, change and improve the property as long as the improvements preserve the historical nature and integrity of Biltmore School.

Gotta love online public records. Takes me back to my early days at the C-T as a news clerk. I spent hours in the Register of Deeds office copying property records.
