A loyal Ashvegas reader sent me jpegs of a postcard he said he received in the mail recently advertising a “seized assets” sale. The loyal reader questions whether this is truly a legit sale. Does anyone know anything more about this?

It's NOT legit. No way Picassos and Chagalls are being sold at the GPI and all you get is a cheesy ass ad like that.

    Google "Abadi" and "auctions."

It's a scam operation that has ripped off people all over the world.

The GPI will be right in the middle of this mess and it will be due to lack of any real investigation. Get ready to be part of a civil lawsuit held by the fools who get taken, Craig Madison. This is bull.

    From a news post:
WORLD GOLF VILLAGE — Neither the company nor the auctioneer that hosted a fine art and jewelry auction at the Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village Nov. 30 that advertised luxury items owned by Bernard Madoff victims had an active license to do business in the state of Florida, according to state records.

The auction, hosted by East Coast Auctions of Chamblee, Ga., included 300 to 400 items valued at a total of more than $1 million, according to the auctioneer, Avi Asher. . . .The pieces at the World Golf Village auction consisted mostly of framed artwork advertised as done by Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Norman Rockwell and Peter Max, all of which Asher said were originals. All the pieces of artwork had letters of authenticity attached to the back of the frames.

Although he could not name any names or say exactly which items at the auction belonged to the victims of Madoff’s $65 billion Ponzi scheme, Asher said that victims would not be charged the normal 15 percent commission if their items sold at auction.

Ron Stein, a Long Island-based financial planner
who created the Web site madoff-help.com for Madoff victims, including his wife’s own family, said the victims denounce auctions like the one at World Golf Village that do not offer clear proof that they are actually helping Madoff victims.

Has anyone checked this web link: http://www.scam.com/showthread.php?t=120086

Has anyone called the Grove Park Inn to find out what they know, if they are hosting the event?

Interesting there's no web site. Also, a gmail address? I'd think they'd also provide info to get a catalog. I'd give it a sketchy factor of 8…

Actually, bump that to a 10. Just did a search on the phone number and came up with:
