-UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling in Asheville: Check out this video featuring the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling team, made up of some of the world’s top professional cyclers (including Olympic silver medalist Lauren Tamayo of Asheville.) They’re based right here in Asheville.

-Asheville City Council 2015 election update: I’ve been keeping up with candidates for this year’s race for Asheville City Council. Three seats are up for election, seats held by Council members Jan Davis, Marc Hunt and Chris Pelly. On Wednesday, I had the chance to ask Davis if he would seek re-election. Davis, who has been on Council for 12 years, said he’s of two minds. He said he enjoys working with his Council mates and said there are many projects he’d like to see come to fruition. At the same time, he said he’d really like to get out and do more fishing and traveling. He said he’s going to wait awhile longer, and see who else might run, before making a decision.

-Photo shoot: Word on the street is that the Time magazine cover photo for March was shot in Asheville this week. The photo featured a gaggle of Asheville babies, from what I’ve been told.

-New northern Buncombe County development: A large new residential development is in the works on more than 300 acres in northern Buncombe County. Plans include sustainability amenities and easy access to a beautiful section of the French Broad River. More as I get it.

-Asheville Outlets stores: I’ve got a running list of the stores opening at the new Asheville Outlets. Here are two more: Christopher & Banks and Justice and Brothers.

-Black History month events in Asheville: Schedule of city parks and rec events.

-Short-term rentals in Asheville: Here are YouTube videos of the recent meeting to talk about the issue of new regs for short-term rentals in Asheville, posted by the chamber.

I was thinking the large new residential development was in Woodfin, but Reynolds Park is only 156-acres. If in Leicester, I hope they don’t fill in the remaining farmland. We need homes, but we need farms more.
