A humid, summery edition of the hot sheet:
Bellyak launch: A party to launch a new Asheville-made product called the Bellyak was held along the French Broad on Saturday. It looked like a fun event. I need to give it a try – looks interesting. Photos from the Bellyak event here.
Finding Franco: So James Franco was hanging in Western North Carolina the past couple of weeks. I actually drove out to Warren Wilson College, where he’s enrolled in their awesome MFA program, to see if I could get a glimpse. I did not. But local folks saw him hanging at Curate, and at a Mexi restaurant in Swannanowhere.
Zen Tubing open: There’s a new outfitter on the French Broad. At least new to me. Zen Tubing is just north of the Sandy Bottoms put-in on Brevard Road. Check ’em out.
Arcade update: Word on the street is there will be something new happening upstairs at Arcade. Don’t have any details yet. Keep yer eyes peeled.
Parking Day coming up: I’m starting to hear about local folks getting excited about Parking Day, an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks. It goes down the third Friday in September. Start planning now.
