Some of what’s going around:

-Big red bus: Lots of people noticed that an Asheville city bus has been wrapped in a big Wells Fargo advertisement. A bright red advertisement. The city transit system has been selling ads for years as far as I know, but this is an entire wrap of the bus, not just an ad on the side. I hear people are planning to complain at a transit commission meeting today, but I’m not sure why. It just seems kinda bad form on the part of Wells Fargo, what with all the Occupy Wall Street protests and the dumb move of chopping down a lovely tree in front of the Wells Fargo bank location on Patton Avenue.

-Animal hospital expands: The Animal Hospital of North Asheville has a big addition going up at the corner of Merrimon Avenue and Beaverdam Road. The location is tight – there doesn’t seem to be a lot of room to grow. But they’re well underway with the work.

-Larchmont moves ahead: The controversial Larchmont project – a 60-unit apartment complex – is under construction up off Merrimon Avenue in North Asheville. City Council unanimously approved the project despite objection from some residents in the adjacent neighborhood.

-Sale at Westall-Chandley: There’s a big sale going on at Westall-Chandley building supply company along Merrimon Avenue in North Asheville. A sign says 30% to 50% off. The company has been in business here for years, but the sale makes me wonder how they’re faring in the tough economy.

The Animal Hospital of North Asheville is on the corner of Merrimon Avenue and Beaverdam Rd. (not Patton Avenue). We're excited about the addition!

The Wells Fargo bus advertisement mostly just seems like a waste of money. I mean, really, is anyone going to open an account there just because they see a giant red bus?
