Thousands of weekend warriors turned out to have a go at the challenging Spartan Race obstacle course set up at the Grove Stone quarry in Black Mountain on Saturday, including former NFL star Randy Moss.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported that some 10,000 competitors were expected to compete in The Asheville Super, which was videotaped and will air on NBC Sports on Sept. 27.

Video on the Spartan Race page on Facebook showed Moss tackling one of the course’s obstacles, and later spraying down passing runners with a water hose. Moss, who went to college at Marshall University and played for seven of his 14 years as pro for the Minnesota Vikings, holds the NFL single-season touchdown reception record (23 in 2007), the NFL single-season touchdown reception record for a rookie (17 in 1998), and is second on the NFL all-time regular season touchdown reception list with 156, according to wikipedia.
