The Out in Asheville blog has the story:

The Western North Carolina AIDS Project (WNCAP) is hosting a benefit dinner, “a night to remember,” to help bring the AIDS Memorial Quilt to Asheville at the Steak & Wine restaurant in on Tuesday, October 7.

To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of World AIDS Day (December 1) and to pay tribute to those who have died or have been affected by the HIV/AIDS virus, WNCAP is bringing the AIDS Memorial Quilt to Pack Place in downtown Asheville. It will be a week long exhibit, beginning on November 24.
The AIDS Memorial Quilt is an inspirational and intimate memorial to those who have died from AIDS. Consisting of more than 47,000 panels, the Quilt has been seen by over 16 million people since 1987. The AIDS Memorial Quilt is intended to foster healing, heighten awareness and inspire action in the age of AIDS.

The week long event, including music and other entertainment, will culminate on December 1, World AIDS Day, with a candlelight interfaith memorial vigil honoringthe lives of those who have died from AIDS, those who are living with HIV/AIDS, the care takers, the orphaned children, and doctors and nurses, and the countless number of friends and families who continue to grieve.

Asheville resident and international celebrity/actress Andie McDowell has been named as the Honorary Spokesperson for World AIDS Day in Western North Carolina this year.

Eating at Steak & Wine will help raise funds needed to bring the AIDS Memorial Quilt to Asheville. S & W will donate a generous portion of dinner and bar sales from October 7 to WNCAP for this year’s observance of World AIDS Day including the first exhibition of the AIDS Memorial Quilt in Asheville. Members of the gay community, straight allies, those who have been touched by HIV/AIDS, or support WNCAP’s work in the community are encouraged to dine at S & W on Tuesday, October 7.
