From the Winston-Salem Journal:

Houck Medford has resigned from the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Winston-Salem that has raised millions of dollars for the parkway.

The retired dentist was among those who started the foundation 12 years ago. He has served as CEO since its inception.

Carolyn Ward, an Asheville resident with a background in park interpretation, replaces Medford, who stepped down last month. Ward has been working with the foundation since 2008 and started its Kids in Parks program, which introduces young people to the parkway while promoting physical activity.

Ward said she will run the foundation from Asheville. The foundation’s office will remain in Winston-Salem.
