This weekend is chock-full of amazingness, from live music to art installations and the downtown LEAF Festival. Here’s our rundown of what we’re thrilled about. And we’re running a ticket giveaway! The person that hits the most spots and events from this weekend’s edition of the GritVegas Update will win two tickets to the Friday and Saturday runway shows at Asheville Fashion Week, happening August 5th and 6th. A talk and performance of a composition for string quartet and electronics from Chris Kincaid and Leslie Clements, inspired by the connection between weaving coverlets with folk art techniques, which fed into the creation of this musical composition

The Odditorium in West Asheville invites you to this free yardsale, where you can “unload your trashy treasures or pick up your next conversation piece.” The bar opens at 9 am. Get your day drankin’ on, y’all.
Music, arts, food, and fun in downtown Asheville! This year, LEAF’s theme is Soul Town. Live music from headliners WAR, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, The Broadcast, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, the Jon Stickley Trio, and much much more. Yoga, busking, circus arts—you don’t want to miss the 2nd annual downtown LEAF! There’s a pre-party with Papadosio happening Friday night @ the New Mountain Amphitheatre if you can’t wait until Saturday to get your LEAF on.
Dance the night away to the sweet sounds of DJ Oso Rey and the fantastic moves of internationally acclaimed “dance ambassadors” from all over the world, including Ghana and Japan.
You can be thrifty all weekend! The Flea for Y’all happens Sunday out on the banks of the French Broad. $2 to sort through glorious treasures. There’s a shuttle, food, beer, mixed drinks, and more.
Follow up the Flea For Y’all with the Imperial Life’s Jazz Brunch. Food from Table, cocktails from Imperial Life, live music from the Roaring Lions. $12 and free coffee (and of course free jazz!).
