NYS3 -The Meisner Conservatory for the Southeast is officially launching the Asheville School of Improv with an open house from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday at NYS3, 2002 Riverside Drive.

The open house will be hosted by Tom Chalmers. The event will include a free art of clowning class, free improve class, demonstrations by the Deep End Improv Troupe and an opportunity to meet the faculty, see the studio, and learn about our exciting summer schedule of classes and camps for youth and adults!

Go here for tickets to the launch of Asheville School of Improv.

You can see the Deep End Improv Troupe in action on Sunday at The Mothlight:

Seven uniquely talented individuals (George Awad, Sharon Feingold, David Greenson, Lindsay Lee, Rigel Pawlak, Amelia Spencer-Kelley, and Michael Thomas) took the plunge and took the improv program at NYS3. Under the direction of Tom Chalmers, they learned how to swim into a suggestion, how to breathe life into an idea, how to keep the funny afloat, and how to make a big splash with their performance. After successfully completing the course, there was only choice for where to go next: The Deep End. Their first show in April was a huge success but only seemed to whet their appetites for what is possible when they paddle out into unscripted waters together. They return in May for The Splashback – an all new evening of improvised short-form and long-form scenarios. Jump in with both feet. Cannonball! Door open at 6:30; show begins at 7:30.
