Asheville Mardi Gras Organizers Sponsor FUNraiser

January 12, 2009, Asheville, NC – Local Mardi Gras organizers have big plans for this year’s Mardi Gras, including a full scale parade through downtown Asheville, but they need help to make it happen. On Saturday, January 24 from 11:00am to 2:00pm lovers of all things NOLA (think New Orleans, LA) will gather at the Greenlife Community Center on Merrimon Avenue for a Creole Cookoff, Half & Half Raffle and Silent Auction all to raise some green for the green, purple and gold celebration and parade slated for Sunday, February 21.

Tickets are only $10 at the door and guests will be invited to sample and judge such Louisiana favorites as red beans & rice, jambalaya, grits & griades and gumbo against a backdrop of New Orleans music favorites and festive décor.
