Fun stuff! Here’s the note from loyal reader Hardie:

We are having our first meet-up Friday August 12th at 6 PM at Burial Brewing. Just an open group for anyone interested to grab a fermented beverage and chat. Derek Dillenger, author of the newly released The Fermented Man, will be on hand chatting and selling his book for anyone that wants.

Want to invite you and anyone else and all your readers to come out. Just trying to get anyone out that might be interested. Not for profit group, just for love of fermentation. We are planning on having a mix of more formal speaker/class type events along with more informal meet-ups like this in the future.

More from the Facebook event page:

Calling one and all, from experts to novices to those dragged out by their significant others, come hang out with us at the first Asheville Fermenters Association meet-up! Let’s connect to discuss everything fermented and maybe even some things not. Come out and grab a wonderful fermented beverage from our friends at Burial and help the world become a little more cultured.

Derek Dillenger — author, fermentation enthusiast, and brewmaster at Connecticut’s first farmhouse brewery, Kent Falls Brewing Company — will be on hand selling copies of his new book, The Fermented Man, and chatting with any fine folks who want to engage him. Check out more from Derek on his blog.
