Asheville City Council candidate J. Neal Jackson and incumbent Kelly Miller, who is seeking re-election, will be holding kick-off parties soon.

For Jackson, soon means tomorrow – Saturday. Eagle Street will be closed off at some point on Saturday evening, and Jackson, a local businessman, plans to make his announcement about 7:45 p.m. Check it.

Miller’s event happens Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Windows on the Park in downtown Asheville. Miller’s event will have music by the Firecracker Jazz Band, and he’ll be serving beer and wine. (If you missed Tuesday night’s City Council discussion over the approval of alcohol permits for his event, you missed one funny council discussion.)
