The Asheville Citizen-Times’ James Shea reports:

The State Bureau of Investigation is probing apparent issues related to the Asheville Police Department’s evidence room, a police department spokesman confirmed today.

Lt. Wally Welch said he could not provide information on the exact nature of the investigation. He said the city was preparing a statement that should be released later today.
