From SoulKu.com, a site founded by two Asheville stay-at-home moms who aim to inspire. Sounds like a great holiday gift idea:
A SoulKu Traveling Soul Kit consists of 4 laminated postcards and an inspirational magnet. Each of the postcards have an inspirational message designed to uplift, empower or inspire the finder. In addition, they each have a tracking number and a QR code (which can be scanned by a mobile device) and instructions to visit the SoulKu website. The inspirational magnet can adhere to any metal surface and has a place to write in your user name, password (for our website) and your 4 postcard numbers. Each SoulKu kit was created with special attention paid to using local vendors, 100% eco-friendly paper and fair trade packaging (created in small batches from bio-degradable banana trees.) 10% of all SoulKu profits go to charity.
After purchasing a kit, a person will come to our website and click on the “Activate Your Kit” icon and register their postcard numbers with us, which will link their e-mail address to those numbers forever. They will also be directed to go to our community blog and leave a message for the people (friends or strangers) who will eventually find their cards.
After this easy initial set-up, the person will then take their cards and put them out into the world. The cards can be left for friends or strangers. The cards can be left anywhere, but it’s important to be deliberate about how and where the cards are placed so they have the best chance of being found.
If the cards are being left for a friend, put them in a place that that friend will be likely to look; in a gift for that friend, taped to the mirror in their house, inside their favorite book, inside their vehicle on the dashboard, in something being returned to the friend, etc.
If the cards are meant for strangers, here are some ideas about where to put them; in a favorite library or book store book, tied to a car door handle, inside a carton of eggs at the grocery store, taped to a locker with a lock on it, inside a deposit envelope or bill envelope, with a tip at a restaurant. The possibilities are endless but remember, it’s important to be deliberate about how and where the cards are placed so they have the best chance of being found.
When a friend or a stranger finds one of the cards, that person is instructed to visit our website. Once on the website, they click on the “Found a Card” icon and can enter in their card number. This will link them directly to the blog segment on our community blog with the original owner of the card. As soon as the finder of the card posts to the blog, an e-mail will be sent to the original owner and the two people can now anonymously converse back and forth.
*PASS IT ON*
Once the finder of the card has commented on the community blog, the card is now also registered to their e-mail address and can be passed on to others. An entire global community can be built around one card of inspiration passed from friend to friend or stranger to stranger.
Thank you Jason! Great post!!!
