The Asheville Area Arts Council recently launched a fundraising campaign to expand resources for the Artist Resource Center and supply Reynolds High School with upgraded Adobe software for use in the classroom.
The Asheville Area Arts Council (AAAC) recently moved from the River Arts District into the Grove Arcade and have launched a fundraising campaign on power2give.org with a goal of $2,000 to add much-needed resources to their Artist Resource Center and supply young, emerging artists at Reynolds High School with classroom access to Adobe software.
At this time, the North Carolina Arts Council is matching funds that are donated to the project, dollar for dollar.
The Artist Resource Center (ARC) is a space within the AAAC for artists to use computers, software, and technology daily for the support of their own artwork and business. The ARC provides professional development opportunities, classes and workshops, and business management programs; many of them free.
The AAAC recently received $10,000 in funding from the City of Asheville and $50,000 from the Windgate Charitable Foundation for the Artist Resource Center, but they still need to raise $25,000 more to meet their goal of having six computer stations at the center, and a full curriculum of workforce development classes–including entrepreneurial skills like book keeping and studio organization for creative industry business owners.
The power2give.org fundraiser will cover a modest portion of the funding still needed by the AAAC for the Artist Resource Center, and offers incentives for donors at different rates.
The funds from the power2give.org fundraiser will enable the AAAC to provide Adobe software for Reynolds High School students, and provide the following for the Artist Resource Center:
1 iMac computer : $1099
1 scanner: $200
7 photoshop elements: $435.85
Power2Give Administrative fee: $239.15
Donor incentives include the following benefits:
$1-20: Recognition on the Artist Resource Center website
$20+: The above, plus a handwritten note from an area artist
$100-200: All of the above, plus recognition in our Artist Resource Center
$200+: All of the above, plus a piece of artwork from a Reynolds High School art student
“With community funding for the power2give.org campaign, we can support the Artist Resource Center with better technology, encouraging growth in our creative sector, and we can help young art students at Reynolds High School be on the cutting edge of the creative industry as they prepare for college,” said Kitty Love, AAAC Executive Director.
The Asheville Area Arts Council aims to have the power2give.org project fully funded and complete by July 31st so that they may purchase and make the additions to the Artist Resource Center and Reynolds High School classrooms by the fall.
