Aqua Cafe, Frank’s New York Deli closed in Asheville

Asheville Scene’s Mackensy Lunsford has the info:

Aqua Cafe closed in May. But the windows at 122 College St. are now covered with brown paper and a sign saying a Korean restaurant will open in its place. The forthcoming restaurant, Korean House, is a project of one of the owners of Stone Bowl Korean Restaurant in Arden and will open this summer serving traditional Korean fare.

Aqua Cafe, opened last August by Maria Soto and Luis Prieto, was in the building formerly occupied by Fiore’s Ristorante Toscana.

Half way thru the year…we should have six closed by now to keep up with ashevilles average of losing twelve restaurants a year…tick tick tick…Anyone have a running count so far?

I hate to see any business go under, but Aqua was maybe the worst Mexican restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. The only one that even comes close is Puebla.

  For real – Aqua was really bad (only place I ever had a dry enchilada) – such a shame since that space is so beautiful.
