Here’s a sneak peek from Geoff, who is working on Asheville’s new supper cub, The Altamont Supper Clubwith chef Zika Singogo.

Conceptual Framework:

Giving birth to civilization, agriculture is the foundation of every society and its food the pride of its people. There is an emotional, unquantifiable connection between a person and their food, from the land that it was grown on to those involved in its cultivation and transportation, and finally to the hands preparing and serving a meal: the farm-to-table and plant-to-plate movements have momentum because they have a deeper meaning.

Altamont Supper Club is born from an appreciation of the bond between people and food in Appalachia. In a city steeped in history, from local farms to fine dining, craft breweries to gluten-free bakeries, the Asheville area is fast becoming a culinary Mecca. Altamont Supper Club is a celebration of the eclectic influences which have been a part of Asheville’s past, make it what it is today, and those who will shape her future.

We are a triple-bottom-line charitable enterprise offering a social club atmosphere, providing a meaningful purpose. We will offer an opportunity for culinarians to “think outside the kitchen”, to further their own craft, in a creative setting. We will promote local, bio-dynamic farms and what they do best, be it proteins, produce or possums. Altamont Supper Club is where the back of the house is brought front and center, where the food that is eaten has history, and where the experience has a purpose.
