Altamont Brewing headed for St. Patrick’s Day opening

On St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, Altamont Brewing Co. opens its new taproom at 1042 Haywood Road in the red-hot West Asheville entertainment district.

But don’t look for any handmade Altamont house beers just yet. Altamont is starting as a craft beer taproom.

The brewery part comes later, said partners Ben Wiggins and Gordon Kear, who are building this place and financing it “out of our own pockets,” Wiggins said.
