Here’s the note from the Blue Ridge Roller Girls:

Dear Mr. or Ms. Santa,

The Blue Ridge Rollergirls, Asheville’s skater owned and skater run nonprofit women’s flat track roller derby league has just one wish for a holiday gift.

We need a dedicated training and meeting space in Asheville and we need a special Santa to make this space a reality through a generous end-of-the-year donation. This donation may take the form of:

Providing a warehouse or other suitable space that we can utilize as our training facility.

Assistance with facility rental and other space costs (such as installing a skating surface).

A combination of 1 and 2. …

We want to safely advance the skills of our skaters by doubling practice time. This will develop our league to compete in WFTDA rankings and regional/national championships!

A training facility will allow us to host skating bootcamps, fundraisers, and other events that empower sustainable growth while building a strong foundation in sportswomanship, camaraderie, and service to our own local Asheville community!

Santa, we also want you to know we have been very good this year!

We hosted six home bouts in the Asheville Civic Center and played four games away. In our home bouts, we averaged over 2000 rabid fans in attendance including over 3000 at our final November bout!

For the 4th year in a row, we have been one Asheville’s most successful sports teams!

We became a WFTDA (Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby) Apprentice League, the big leagues of roller derby! We are a part of the fastest growing sport in the nation!

Finally, we continue to build an impressive support network of more than 30 sponsors and friends. We show love for our sponsors by participating in high profile public appearances, recognizing them on our webpage and at bouts, and utilizing social networking media, video and media interviews to spread the word about the Blue Ridge Rollergirls and our sponsors! We also share our success by giving to local charities throughout the year! …

Love and Thanks,

The Blue Ridge Rollergirls
