Here’s a little taste of Sunday’s news:

Holly Headache clears her throat
We heard her. She was holding down the anchor duties.

Bad pet food
In perhaps the most overblown media storm of the past few weeks, WLOSers jumped on the “deadly pet food” story. On Sunday, Kassandra “Special K” Pride said all the pet food recalls have caused “confusion and concern” among pet food owners as to what’s safe.

Special K didn’t really help us make sense of it all. From what we can tell, nobody knows what is in the food that’s killing animals, but only about a 15 or so animal deaths have been tied to bad pet food, right? So why all the gnashing of teeth? Feed your pets some kibbles and get over it. Enough with the treats and wet food and all that crap. They’re animals, OK? Animals. Stop treating them like your children and shut up.

Two SUVs collide
We’ve got enough SUVs already. This is actually good news.

In some bad news…
Two Charlotte police officers were shot and killed in the line of duty.

Sunday was Palm Sunday
News for all you God-less heathens…

In an ad posing as news
WLOSers went out and covered Tom’s of Maine having a representative at EarthFare. Tom’s says healthy teeth and gums are critical to children’s well-being. Tom’s also says, “Buy our toothpaste!”

In other news…
Somebody wants to exhume the body of famous magician Harry Houdini… And there was an MS walk in Ashvegas on Sunday.

In other news we missed…
Former Woodfin police chief Pete Bradley was convicted a second time on assault charges in one of the weirdest trials of late. Bradley was charged with beating his wife, who is now dead. WLOS hammered home the fact that though Bradley’s wife’s death was ruled a homicide, the investigation into her death remains open… Shuler wants an end to the North Shore Road debate. He wants Swain County to get cash and for the federal government to drop the idea of building the road in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park… And lockboxes downtown will allow people to drop money for the homeless. The hope is to quell panhandling, we suppose. Good luck with that.
