Fan of The Moth? Enjoyed the Unchained Tour? Win prizes and tell stories at this local event spotlighting true stores of real people.

After a summer break, Synergy Story Slams are back on the first Tuesday of each month. Here’s the setup: ┬áSlam organizers select a theme. Past themes have included Declarations of Love, Obsessions, Work and Man’s Best Friend. Fans gather at the Magnetic Field. If you have a story to tell, put your name in the hat.

The story has to be true, and it has to have happened to you. Real stories, real people. Real life.

Emcee Fynn Crooks chooses names from the hat, selecting the night’s tellers to step onstage and share a story from their own lives. Audience members volunteer to judge the stories.

At 7: 30, the story slam gets started. True tales from real life, all based around the night’s theme. Judges choose a winner, and the night’s takings are split between the winning tale-teller and the night’s charity partner.

Next month’s event is Tuesday, October 2 at the Magnetic Field. Stories are bold, personal, sometimes humorous, and always true. Come to tell stories, or just to listen. Ticket prices are on a sliding scale, $5-$10, no one turned away.

If you have a true, personal story to tell, arrive by 7:15 to put your name in the hat. October’s theme is Decision. Stories start at 7:30.

As The Moth says: Everybody has a story to tell.
