catawba_valley-brewingIt’s no secret that Catawba Valley Brewing Company is planning to open an Asheville brewery. But we haven’t heard word on a location. Still, things must be close, because Catawba Valley is hiring for its Asheville location:

This position calls for creativity! Reporting to the Head Brewer, our Specialty Brewer must manage all aspects of the brewing process to create new specialty, seasonal, and small-batch products. A track record of beer innovation is essential.

Catawba Valley Brewing Company’s Specialty Brewer must be a consummate beer professional and enthusiast, and competently represent our brewery’s personality and mission. The major duties are:

1. Brewing Operations:
a. Envision, formulate, and produce CVBC’s small-batch beers in our Asheville brewery
b. Develop new beers that capitalize on local ingredients, processes, and/or folklore
c. Perform all aspects of the brewing process to CVBC standards (Recipe formulation, grain handling, wort production, fermentation, packaging, yeast management, cleaning/sanitization, safety, and routine maintenance)
d. Make sure all brewing documentation is accurately and properly prepared, suitable for regulatory requirements, and submitted in a timely manner
e. Plan the brewing schedule 6 months in advance. Ensure all specialty products are available for their planned-upon time slots
f. Manage all consumables required in brewing operations. Make sure all grain, hops, yeast, spices, packaging materials… are available per the brewing schedule and are properly handled.
g. Create and/or modify CVBC procedures as required to reduce costs, improve products, and/or evolve new beers

2. Marketing
a. Interface with marketing staff to properly publicize seasonal/specialty offerings
b. Professionally and enthusiastically interface with our Asheville, NC customer base
c. Educate other brewery staff in beer and the brewing process
d. Effectively represent CVBC at industry events such as beer dinners and festivals

3. Facilities Maintenance:

b. Keep the overall facilities clean and clutter free

Thanks to loyal reader Jen for the heads-up.
