Press release here from loyal reader Ami of the YWCA:

The YWCA Diabetes Wellness Program is in Danger

The YWCA’s highly successful Diabetes Wellness Program helps people manage their disease with exercise, education, and support, and makes these tools affordable for all. Unfortunately, state funds for this program have been eliminated in the new budget.

Because of this, we need to raise $25,000 by THIS THURSDAY, June 30th, in order to be able to continue serving the folks currently enrolled in the program.

We have raised $16,000 so far, so we still need to raise another $9000. You can help your neighbor afford a cure for their disease by making a contribution now through our website: www.ywcaofasheville.org.

Folks can also help by joining Club W: The YWCA Health & Fitness Center. For every new Club W member we get by June 30, there is a donor who will give $100 towards Diabetes Wellness.

Your support will allow the YW to save lives!

Exercise stops Diabetes dead in its tracks. But not everyone has a good place to exercise, or knows how to begin a routine. Eating, taking medication and good self-care becomes much more complicated with Diabetes.

Read powerful stories and learn more about our Diabetes Wellness program in these articles in the Asheville Citizen-Times and Mountain Xpress.
