Word on the street: New restaurant planned for Haywood Road in West Asheville

Updated Dec. 4: Loyal reader Paul corrects me: The property in question, 715 Haywood Road, is not the former McCarson’s property; it’s the former Shultz Shoe Shop.

Original post Nov. 26: A building permit for a commercial remodeling job has been pulled for 715 Haywood Road, the former location of McCarson’s Quality Used Appliance store in West Asheville. The long-standing store – once an eyesore with a bunch of old, used appliances stack on the sidewalk out front – closed in 2011.

The name of the new business is Jargon Restaurant, according to the permit. The builder listed on the permit is Altitude Builders, and a spokesman for the company referred me to the business owners. That’s listed as Pipewalk LLC in Asheville. The N.C. Secretary of State’s office lists Sean Piper and Joaquin Gomez as member/managers of Pipewalk. I haven’t been able to reach either of them yet.

Sean and Joaquin own 715 Haywood, the old Shultz Shoe shop, next to Bee Charmer. The McCarsons buildings have 2 different owners and are under construction as residential with storefronts.

That is the name of the tapas bar that was going to go in the old Schultz Shoe Shop space. Guess that deal fell through and they are going for this space instead?
