Word on the street: Memorial 5k run is being organized to honor UNCA’s Jill Yarnall

Jill Yarnall, 39, a well-known and well-respected member of UNC Asheville’s public relations staff for the past 12 years, died April 20 of cancer.

Jill also enjoyed running. From her obituary:

Jill was an avid runner, having completed many races including the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco. She also served as a mentor for many area runners, particularly encouraging women and younger runners in their training. Her love of animals, especially dogs, was a lifelong passion. She brought joy and love to all the lives she touched.

Word is that some folks are organizing a memorial 5k race in Jill’s honor. More as I get it.
