Believe it or not, you can go to “troughs” such as Golden Corral and eat relatively healthy, if you stick to the variety of salads, fruit, and roasted meats. It takes a lot of self-discipline. The chocolate waterfall is a “get thee behind me satan,” tempter!
Thanks for the tip, Jack Palance
In case anyone was wondering, it’s the same as eating at a Ryan’s.
This restaurant is being built for the oldsters of Buncombe. Hateful hipsters, stay on Haywood Road where you belong. You will both be happier.
It think it would be nice to see something new on Patton ave. It’s a dirty run down stretch of highway. New business and new life are needed to bring modern life to the area. They should start by tearing down the eyesore of the old Kmart like their doing everywhere else. No one takes care of their buildings out there. Seems like a prime spot for development. All restaurants have dirty practices including local ones. Local restaurants aren’t special in this sense.
its great to support the companies based in NC, and Golden Corral is one of them.
At least it is a NC owned company. In the past they have been very supportive of our military troops, disabled veterans, and the Children’s Miracle Network.
I love Golden Corral. Before I moved to Asheville, the new Golden Corral in Springfield, MA was biggest talk of the area. It will be awesome to go to it here too. I know it is not the most healthy food, but it is good to be “bad” sometimes.
Perfect. I won’t know if I’m eating a tire or a steak
Booo! NG. Golden Coral is some of the worst slop I’ve ever eaten in my life. I went to one out of desperation once, and couldn’t believe how bad it was. Disgusting, unhealthy, GMO, corn syrup, plastic, deep fried, MSG laden, non-food of the most offensive kind. The fact that this corporation is headquartered in NC doesn’t make it “local.” Where do the get their “food?” Where do they bank their dollars? Bad news. Sorry, Patton Ave, I feel bad for you if this is an indication of your future.
Oops, sorry, I didn’t mean to leave my comment as a response to yours. I love your comment, though!
Golden Corral has the best food and such a variety of food choices. You can’t beat the price. I’m sure there will be long lines to get in.
Disgraceful! They should change their name to “The Hog’s Troth”. The food is disgusting. How could a city like avl let this happen?!?!?!?!?

What is that supposed to mean? If you get out of your little bubble you’ll find that there is very much a market in Asheville for such a place. It isn’t my kind of place by any stretch of the imagination but neither one of us are under any obligation to eat there.
My above comment was in replay to this:
“How could a city like avl let this happen?!?!?!?!?”
My formatting didn’t work, I guess.
No thanks
