Here’s the link to WNCW’s annual list of the top 100 CDs of the year. The Avett Brother’s Second Gleam topped the list. Congratulations! To me, the record is a wonderfully quiet reflection.

Other records on the list really struck me this year. I love the Fleet Foxes record; I saw Abigail Washburn for the first time at AMJam and was so impressed that I ran out and bought her music; James McMurtry scares me, in a good way; I saw BB King at the Biltmore Estate Summer Concert Series and was awed to be in his very presence; Dehlia Low is getting noticed, but Ashvegas noticed first!; and Emmylou’s voice is truly the voice of an angel.

Here’s the top 20:

Avett Brothers – The Second Gleam

Bob Dylan – Tell Tale Signs: The Bootleg Series Vol. 8

Old Crow Medicine Show – Tennessee Pusher

Drive By Truckers – Brighter Than Creation’s Dark

      Wood Brothers – Loaded

      Lucinda Williams – Little Honey

James McMurtry – Just Us Kids

      Alejandro Escovedo – Real Animal

Fleet Foxes – White Winter Hymnal

Abigail Washburn & The Sparrow Quartet – (self-titled)

B.B. King – One Kind Favor

      Belleville Outfit – Wanderin’

My Morning Jacket – Evil Urges

Tyler Ramsey – A Long Dream About Swimming Across The Sea

Al Green – Lay it Down

      Dehlia Low – Dehlia Low

Emmylou Harris – All I Intended to Be

      Beck – Modern Guilt

      Aimee Mann – @#%&*! Smilers
