Rationing gas?

WLOS did its best to fan consumers’ fears of a gas shortage Tuesday night, announcing that two big pipelines serving WNC suppliers were shut down because of the hurricane. This news sent people scrambling to their gas stations to fill up, and means that local governments are cutting back in some service areas. Cherub Charu is reporting this from a gas station in Mills River.

So I went down to my local Enmark, where gas shot up Monday from $2.54 to $2.79 for regular, to see what was happening. At about 11:30 p.m., there were a number of cars there filling up. That number of the people at the gas station that late at night is unusual.

But the giant Hot Spot next door was empty, and regular there was selling for $2.57. So what’s going on? I don’t know. I don’t think people are into panic buying yet, but they’re on the verge.

Dunkle on baby fat
At noon, Victoria Dunklehead put some extra emotion into reading a report about how hard a time women who’ve just given birth have losing that baby weight. Dunkle was really moaning and groaning through her report, mainly because her ass has been wide as a barn since she had her kid a year or so ago.

Stop bitching and do something about it.

I was so focused on you being mean to poor Victoria, that I somehow missed the first half of your post–only to be hit in the face with gas panic late this morning.

I’m still kind of stuck on wide as a barn. Is that a fact?

How about that dolt Jay Siltzer on Tuesday morning? He was talking about the mild flooding and Katrina-effects we were feeling here and said, and I quote, “It’s absolutely unbelievable out there”. Jay, I think what’s happening in Louisiana and Mississippi is unbelievable. What happened here due to the storm was very minor.
