Lightning meters?
Julie Blunder blundered her way through the lead story tonight at 11, as the crew led with stormy weather that kept some high school football teams off the field.

The weather must not have been that bad, because Julie said it was “remarkably clear.” Huh? Then why are a few storms your lead story? I just don’t get it.

Julie was trying to show us a graphic of lightning strikes, but she kept pressing her little remote button and fired right through it. Oh, well, Russ said, we’ll check back with you when you get your shit straight.

Russ said officials used “lightning meters” to determine that the weather wasn’t safe for play. That tidbit went unexplained, although the tease at the top of the news showed somebody holding a little flickering meter-thingy. Was that it? It sounds like another made-for-TV weather gizmo to show us just how scary things can be outside.

Russ held down the fort with anchoring duties, and I liked how he kept asserting his control by patting the desk after talking with his crew.
