Mo Daddy’s quietly opened in downtown Asheville, right next door to Mamacita’s and just up from the Orange Peel, but I have yet to read a review of the place. They’ve been booking some good music, from the little I’ve seen. And I’m guessing they serve food, but I have yet to step foot in the place.
Can somebody tell me what Mo Daddy’s is all about?

The bartenders were rude as can be both times I’ve been there. I politely canceled a burger after 30 minutes of waiting on it one night and the bartender wanted to argue with me about it. Told me ,"This aint McDonalds man."

Indeed worth a try. Food was excellent (southern comfort food with an organic, gourmet twist) and they have a wide range: full meals to just bar food. And the best peach cobbler I have come across. Good prices, great entertainment. I hope they make it!

    they have a myspace – http://www.myspace.com/modaddysbar

    About me:
Mo Daddy’s is the Premier spot for old and fresh new blues, ragtime, rockabilly, R&B, soul and lots of local acts to show off there rhythms. As owners of Mamacitas a local and independently owned restaurant opened Mo Daddy’s they were constantly thinking about what the community would want. From fresh and local – out of the ordinary bar food to specialty beers and mixed drinks that you can only find here. They have set out on a mission to bring both a full plate and half empty pint combined with music that is sure to please your soul. Wanna know where Mo Daddy’s is? Well just a short walk/drive downtown from any direction and you find your self standing on Biltmore Ave. beside MamaCitas… Same building, same great faces with a few newbies that will be at your "rocks clinging glass" call and may even become you therapist. What ever suits you. Check us out once, then tell your friends and come again…

chicken and waffles. need you know more?

truly, it was delicious. the very first menu item is fried chicken (white or dark) and a waffle with ancho-honey sauce. yum! we had chicken wings and a waffle. the wings were the best i have had in town. the real deal, a whole wing with all pieces intact….not a few little ones.the waffle needed a little work as it was kind of batter-y, but overall it is a cool spot. big deep red leather couches with studs (the metal kind), open air on the side and a few outdoor tables. great atmosphere….great food. check it out!

All I can add to the conversation is that it’s a chicken and waffles joint, and while I haven’t been yet, it comes highly recommended from two friends. Rumor has it it’s owned by the Mamacita’s crew.
