This summer, we got the official news that the Health Adventure would be moving into fancy new digs in a couple of years. You can read about it here.

So what will happen to all that empty space in Pack Place that will be left behind? What do you think will go there? What should go there?

It could mean opportunity for expansion for any number of organizations already in Pack Place, including the Asheville Art Museum, the Colburn Earth Science Museum and the Diana Wortham Theatre.

Pack Place has a special place in the history of downtown Ashvegas. The space, and it’s offerings, was created with taxpayers’ dollars in a controversial funding move in the 1980s by the city to spark downtown growth. Today, most people involved say the Pack Place move was critical to creating the vibrant downtown we have today.

The bottom line is we hope the empty space goes to great use. It is premium real estate in our great downtown.
