What WLOS calls news on Sunday; and some real news

There wasn’t much local news, that’s for sure. Russ Bowen, looking dapper in a blue suit and polka-dot tie, said Bele Chere is over, then tossed it to Kassandra “Special K” Pride. She stumbled all over her live report from Bele Chere. She said police said they had about 15 arrests each day at Bele Chere, which is way down from years past. The cops said it was planning and a strong presence that did the trick.

Jay Siltzer did the weather. Then there was a non-story about searchers in Macon County searching a river after an empty canoe was seen floating by. Turned out to be nothing.

The there was the “Sunday News Reel,” then WLOSers came back and did two more lame Bele Chere stories – one about some company giving away free bread; the other about the Air Dogs that everybody loves to watch.

And that was what passed for your local news on WLOS Sunday night.

In news that we heard on the street at Bele Chere, one man was arrested and charged with murder after he strangled his pregnant wife to death early Sunday morning. The guy actually turned himself in to police after he did the deed. It happened at Ledgewood Apts. in Asheville, wherever that is.

I looked up those apartments because I was worried it was a typo of the apartments I live in…thankfully not. They are over near Sayles Rd. in Oakley close to the Target, etc.
