What other big names will Campaign ’08 bring to Asheville?

I’ve been talking to lots of friends and political observers recently about the prospects of more big campaign events in these last weeks leading up to Election Day. Everybody seems convinced that we’re bound to have more visitors because North Carolina might actually vote Democrat for the first time in more than 30 years.

Rumor has it that another big Obama supporter will stop by Asheville soon. Maybe Michelle Obama, again? She made a campaign appearance at UNCA back this summer, remember? Others say it might be a big-name entertainer, such as James Taylor, who will come through to whip up support in the last days.

On the Republican side, everybody also seems convinced that Asheville (or WNC) will get a visit from John McCain, or maybe Sarah Palin. Wouldn’t that be something?
