This weekend, Ashvegas’s own Jason Sandford took it to the streets to support Bike Love 2017, our featured event of the weekend! The event will be held at Salvage Station on Saturday, 2/18 and is presented by New Belgium Brewing.

Gospel Night with The Men of Virtuee @ The Double Crown

Roxboro, NC’s Men of Virtuee hit the stage at Double Crown for another installment of the popular and fabulous Gospel Night. $10

Friday, February 17

National General Strike @ the United States

all day

“No work. No commerce. Only human solidarity” is the tagline of this nation-wide strike, which invites people who can to leave work and stay out of the system for a full day to protest the Trump administration.

Hemphill Talks with Caldwell @ Revolve

6:30-8 pm

A unique opportunity that joins artist and art dealer. Revolve gallery owner Colby Caldwell in conversation with famed dealer and gallery owner George Hemphill, of Hemphill Fine Arts in Washington, D.C. $10.

Danimal Planet // The Umphrey’s McGee Afterparty @ Salvage Station

11 pm

Let the sweet sounds and “lush, ethereal loop-based songs” of Danimal Planet usher you into the late-night. $5

Saturday, February 18

AVL Beer Expo 2017 @ The Venue Asheville

1-8 pm

The Beer Expo promises many opportunities to nerd out on beer, from the raw ingredients to brewing, packaging, and more. Geek out on beer styles and talk with experts. Tickets are going fast! $30 per session (2 sessions total).

Bike Love ’17 Presented by New Belgium @ Salvage Station

7 pm

The annual fundraising fiesta for Asheville on Bikes is the place to land this weekend. On the schedule: a reception, a silent auction, a bike raffle, and music from Stephanie Morgan, AoB Welcome, DJ Filth, and DJ Marley. General admission: $20.

Asheville Vaudeville @ Toy Boat Community Arts Space

7:30-12 midnight

The fabulous witchy puppeteer Toybox hosts the first Asheville Vaudeville night of 2017. Standup, contortion, dance, trapeze, burlesque, and all other manner of performances await you. $15 ($12 beginning at 10 pm).

Triptych Soul “Albumita” Release Show @ UpCountry Brewing

9 pm

Celebrate local jazz fusion group Triptych Soul’s new self-titled release with this night of progressive jass that blends rock, soul, and classical into its rhythms. See the story on Asheville Grit here. Armadilla opens. Free

Blue Ridge Roller Girls Season Opener @ the US Cellular Center

5 – 7 pm

The beloved Blue Ridge Roller Girls have their first bout of the season–and they’re pitting vintage Asheville teams the Wham Bam Thank You Ma’ams and the Candy Apple Razor Blades together for a rumble. Family friendly; $2 beer specials! $13 entry; discounts for younger fans.

President’s Day

It’s a federal holiday. It’s President’s Day! Spend the day celebrating–or reminiscing about–your favorite president.

Health Care Town Hall @ Highland Brewing

Has the Affordable Care Act helped you? Has it worked against you? Share and hear stories about health care access in Buncombe County.
