For years, the Asheville Civic Center has played host to some version of the “toughman” competition, basically a bar room brawl posing as a boxing match. But for the first time, it appears that Asheville will host the toughest of all tough men when the Ruckus in the Cage comes to town on April 5.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is hosting the cage matches, which in recent years have cleaned up their act. In the old days, ultimate fighting meant a no-holds-barred match in which there were virtually no rules. Today, the UFC represents a mainstream version of ultimate fighting that does include some basic rules, but remains close to its roots.

So there you have it. Should be interesting.
