The U.S. Forest Service wants comments on the environmental assessment of a project in McDowell County in the Pisgah National Forest, Grandfather Ranger District.

The activities include: widening about 1.2 miles of existing state road 1407 in McDowell County on national forest system land to 20-foot right-of-way; improve drainage and culverts; realign state road 1407 in 10 locations; pave 1.5 miles of the road; issue a 50-foot easement to N.C. Department of Transportation.

Hand-deliver comments to 160-A Zillocoa St., Asheville; send electronically to [email protected]; or mail to Forest Supervisor, National Forest of NC, PO Box 2750, Asheville NC, 28802-2750.
