On October 8th at 10:00 am in the Evergreen gym, actor Lee Stetson, who portrayed John Muir on Ken’s Burn’s PBS The National Parks series, will do a performance for the students. John Muir was the founder of the Sierra Club, a leading naturalist, dedicated mountaineer and wilderness explorer, author, philosopher and story-teller. Muir is also credited as the architect of our National Park System.  Stetson/Muir is in town for the Western North Carolina Alliance’s Evening around the Campfire at the Crest Pavilion that evening at 7:00 pm.

On October 13th at 7:00 pm Evergreen and the Haw Creek Community Association are hosting a City Council and Mayoral Candidate and Forum. This event will take place at Evergreen Community Charter School in the lunchroom.  Candidates will introduce themselves and questions from the audience will be read by Evergreen Student Ambassadors.
