Trial in case of grisly murder case begins in Henderson County

A trial began Tuesday in Henderson County in the case of a man accused of first-degree murder in the death of a 21-year-old woman whose body was found nude and partially burned on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Hendersonville Times-News has the murder trial story here.

It’s shaping up to be a sensational trial, and the details of the crime are gruesome. The young woman, Misty Lynn Carter, was pregnant, and suffered chop wounds to the head and chest before she was set afire. The jury was loaded on a bus and toured three locations critical to the case, including the spot where the woman’s body was found, the newspaper reported.

Defense attorneys maintain that Jermaine Deprie Glover, the defendant, is wrongly accused. He arrived in the courtroom in a wheelchair – his lower left leg having been amputated because of diabetes, the Times-News said. The defense says Carter gave massages to men and that one of her clients killed her. Prosecutors maintain that Glover did the deed.
