From the UNCA athletic department:

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville Athletics Communications Office has announced that it is going paperless and will not be printing media guides and recruiting brochures for its athletics teams.

Media guides will still be produced and be posted electronically and in a PDF version on the school’s web-site – www.uncabulldogs.com.

“There are a number of reasons to stop printing media guides at this time,” stated UNC Asheville Associate Athletics Director of External Affairs Mike Gore. “We believe that this is an excellent cost-cutting measure, a green initiative and will allow fans and friends of our program to go to our web-site and get information on our teams.

“This is a big change for our Communications Office but it is reality,” added Gore. “Ohio State and Michigan announced that they weren’t going to do media guides a few weeks ago. Other schools are heading in that direction.”

Gore believes that eliminating media guides will also drive more people to the athletic department’s web-site.

“We can better serve our media and our fans with more information on our web-site rather than having to depend on the media guide to do that,” stated Gore

I get the vision that someday we’ll all be running around with a smart-phone or kindle-type device in order to read stuff that used to be handed out in pamphlet form.

"End of the world coming soon": Open endofworld.pdf and read all about it.

I guess I won’t be reading that, because I don’t have either device.
