Tiger Woods visits his golf course outside Asheville today

ASHEVILLE — Tiger Woods is in town today to visit The Cliffs at High Carolina, the golf course he is designing for Cliffs Communities.

Cliffs founder Jim Anthony said Tuesday Woods was expected to tour the course for a couple hours before going to Charlotte, where he is playing in a PGA Tour event later this week.

The course, located in East Asheville, is Woods’ first American design. Anthony said earlier this month Cliffs at High Carolina will be ready for play sometime in 2012.
