I’m just catching up on the big news that broke yesterday about Asheville’s newest beer festival, aptly named Beer City Festival.

Here’s the news, from @edgymama

Tix for Beer City Fest will be $35, cash only. Buy at breweries or @barleystappizza March 29. Locals win! #avlbeer #avlent

To reiterate: tickets will be on sale March 29 at all local breweries, and Barley’s Tap Room. Tickets are $35 each. You’ll have to pay cash. All tickets sold for the event at Brewgrass last year will be honored. As it stands now, there won’t be any online sales of tickets.

Beer City Festival will be held June 5. The location still has yet to be announced, but someone on Twitter is pushing the new Pack Square Park as the spot. We’ll see.

The idea here is to really target local beer drinkers for this festival. That’s because over the past few years, there’s been growing frustration from some people getting shut out of the fall Brewgrass event. Tickets for that great event are sold online and go so fast that lots of folks miss out. By limiting outlets for ticket sales for Beer City Festival, organizers hope it will help locals who want to drink some beer come out and enjoy an event.
