House fire
Russ “Beefcake” Bowen teased the top story by telling us that a fire “completely destroys” a house in Edneyville. Some fire. Completely. Destroys.
So Kassandra “Special K” Pride tells us that the blaze “likely started in the kitchen.” That’s because people in the house told firefighters, and Special K, that somebody put a pot of grease on a stove to melt it and dispose of it, but got a call to go “put up some four-wheelers” and forgot about the grease. That was about it.
Breaking news: More thefts during the holidays
That’s what Russ told us. He also told us that shopping centers and parking lots can be “playgrounds” for thieves. So don’t let people see your credit card number when you pay; don’t leave gifts of belongings in plain sight in your car; guard your purse; and park in well-lighted areas. That’s what Russ says.
Traffic sucks
Mountain interstates were kinda crowded with people coming back home to the mountains after Thanksgiving.
In a live look at I-26, traffic appeared fine. But traffic on I-40 was backed up for miles coming eastbound after four wrecks caused delays in Haywood and Buncombe counties, Russ said.
Awesome weather
Julie Blunder said the recent beautiful weather, which has featured clear skies and highs in the upper 60s, isn’t breaking any records. And it’s going to get cold and rainy. But it’s been great lately.
Water line repair
Water service will be disrupted on Monday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. along several roads in Biltmore Village. City crews will be repairing water lines, WLOSers said. Sounds like a pain.
In other news…
Skin cancer is bad… and the Folk Art Center on Sunday was nearly deserted.
