Loyal reader White Lightnin’ gave me a heads-up on the newest WLOSer, Courtney Brennan, who had a story yesterday about some school kid getting picked on down in Brevard. WLOSers are all about bullying these days. Any-hoo, let’s all give Courtney a big howdie-do.

Here’s a tidbit I found from the WQAD web site. Looks like she was a reporter in Illinois before coming here. I’ll do some more digging later:

Courtney Brennan joined NewsChannel 8 as a reporter in January 2006. She is part of The Blitz team and reports on Friday nights from local high school football games. Courtney also does sports feature pieces for the sports department.

Courtney is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is a huge Steeler fan. She graduated from Syracuse University with degrees in broadcast journalism and public policy.

Before coming to WQAD, Courtney was a one-man band reporter for WKTV in Utica, New York. She also covered Senator Kerry in the 2004 Democratic primary for WATD out of Marshfield, Massachusetts.

I remember watching Courtney at WQAD. She is a great reporter and very professional. It was a big loss to the Quad Cities when she left. Ashville has a definite asset in Courtney Brennan.

The whole Weather Dept has been in the hands of Karen Wynne all week. That sorry excuse outta be canned pronto!!!

I remember a timeframe not long ago in which I would take the time to watch ABC13 on the weekends for their on-air staff. To me their production is barely viewable during the week and I don’t even bother turning it on the weekends anymore.

Another heads up on a WLOSer…Julie Blunder is recently divorced and her ex, Casey Manuel, is getting remarried on July 26th. My wife and I met the new bride-to-be and she is a sweetheart and a keeper!

boy i’m glad the S.O. and I are free of WLOS – I hated it when he was working there. Not a bad local news channel though.
