The Many Faces of Asheville Bus Tour
DATE: Thursday, August 13
TIME: 8:30 am – 4:00pm
COST: $35 a person (includes lunch)
HOST: The Center for Diversity Education at UNC Asheville

Description: Where is the indigenous burial ground? What are the five downtown monuments remembering? Who desegregated the lunch counters? What is one of the fastest growing populations in Buncombe County? Find out more in this day long bus tour featuring a downtown walking tour, a look at historic and contemporary immigrant communities, a special visit with a Buncombe County Board of Education ESL and Translation Services employee, and discussions at diverse houses of worship. Lunch will be at a locally owned ethnic restaurant. Educators will receive a certificate for participation and can be awarded 0.5 CEUs (5 hours) Community members are encouraged to attend – especially recent residents. Cost of the trip is $25 for educators, and $35 for the general public. Anyone age 12 and up is welcomed and encouraged to participate! Don’t have time for a day long bus tour? Want to make the most of an office lunch hour? For groups of 10 or more, a Center staff member is available to lead a 1 hour downtown walking tour on the history of our mountain home. $5.00 a person.
