Neat story here about the cost of the 12 days of Christmas, by the Anderson Independent-Mail

Local tidbits:

As for 10 lords-a-leaping, a true love can pack up the object of his or her affections and make the two and a half hour drive to Cullowhee, N.C., to see the world-famous Royal Lippizaner Stallions as they leap around Western Carolina University’s Ramsey Center on Jan. 15.

Two tickets in the VIP section for this event: $24.50 per, according to the Royal Lipizzaner Web site.

On the 11th day of Christmas, 11 pipers piping are needed. Steve Agan, a world-renowned bagpipe player and resident of Asheville, N.C., is available for approximately $350 per event. Book him for 11 events, and a true love is looking at $3,850.

11 pipers piping: $3,850.

Total cost of the 12 Days of Christmas (Upstate-style): $17,788.
