Rockhounds, rejoice! The Colburn Gem and Mineral Museum is a great place to do some Christmas shopping. Loyal reader Felicity tells us why:

Everybody should come and buy their Christmas presents, stocking stuffers and the like at the Colburn Earth Science Museum gift shop this year. Why?

Because the Colburn teaches earth science to about 10,000 local schoolkids each year offering the kind of hands on science classes that kids never forget. Why else?

Because the Colburn has been around since 1960 and is an Asheville institution – we even brought the Moon Rock to Asheville back in the 70s and every local schoolkid traipsed through to see it. And finally, the reason why you should do your shopping here is that we have great stuff – fun toys, fabulous stocking stuffers, jewelry, rocks and more – for great prices – almost everything is under $15 – and the money all goes to a great cause, which is to say, the Colburn Earth Science Museum.

Also, even though we are usually closed on Mondays, we will be open to the public this Monday, December 22 and next Monday, December 29, thereby giving you an extra day of extra gift shopping AND a cool place to take those relatives who are still lurking around on the 29th!
