From my story in today’s Asheville Citizen-Times:

The Silver Dollar Café, one of Asheville’s oldest restaurants, is set to close Sept. 1, with a new eatery set to take its place later this year.
The Asheville Public, focused on house-made sausages, other charcuterie and local, seasonal foods will open in its place at 175 Clingman Ave. by early December, according to Jenny Henegan, one of the new owners.

Antony Cole, the chef at Roots Cafe, said The Asheville Public will be a good addition to the neighborhood.

“I think it will make this whole corridor more visible and get more people thinking about coming down to the River Arts District to eat,” Cole said.

Back in my newspaper days, I ate a lot of pancakes mornings at the Silver Dollar. Hate to see it go. New eateries cannot compare to some of the wonderful traditional restaurants we're losing.

Sounds great, but what I want to know is will they be cool about overflow parking from the Grey Eagle shows?

Can't always get a decent spot in their lot and would patronize any restaurant that close which welcomed motorists into their adjacent (and usually empty) lot. -=WL=-
