This is kinda cool – kids can take a class with Asheville’s Chusy Haney-Jardine, maker of Anywhere, USA, which won a prize at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

Here’s the press release:

ASHEVILLE – Asheville School Summer Academic Adventures program has hired Chusy Haney-Jardine to be its film instructor this summer. He will be teaching all film classes, from the film immersion course for rising 9-11th graders to the 25-hour film challenge class for middle school children.

Haney-Jardine has directed more than 100 international broadcast commercials for numerous companies such as Pepsi Cola, Gatorade and Payless Shoes. Recently, his feature-length film “Anywhere USA” won a Special Jury Prize at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival for singularity vision.

The Summer Academic Adventurers program at Asheville School allows rising 6-11th graders the opportunity to augment an average summer camp experience, according to a press release from the program.

A nationally co-ed college preparatory boarding and day school, Asheville School enrolls approximately 250 students from across the country and overseas.
